    3. Hi everyone, I'm attempting to research my GIBBS family. I'm interested in this marriage: Thomas STACY married Elizabeth GIBBS in Romsey, Hampshire on 28 Dec 1771. I suspect that this Elizabeth Gibbs may be the sister of my 3G grandfather James Gibbs. James Gibbs immigrated to Newfoundland before 1800 & then moved to Nova Scotia by 1804. If anyone can share any information on the Gibbs or Stacy family, I would really appreciate it! Thanks, Barb Campbell Nova Scotia Canada

    2. Philip James Wright
    3. Hi All I know I have asked this before but at the moment I have hit the proverbial brick wall. I am searching for a Richard WRIGHT father of Thomas WRIGHT. Thomas was born about 1827 and the only area I can even start to look in is Elvetham but this is very possibly a red herring. Richard WRIGHT was according to Thomas's marriage certificate a Carman. If any one has a Richard WRIGHT out there who was born around 1800 and has a child called Thomas I would love to hear from you. Here's hoping Phil Wright

    3. Dear Jenny, could your William be a highly successful professional? I quote from a 1841 London Commercial Directory: MACKIE, William, stockbroker, 4 Hercules Court, Threadneedle Street, EC2 (the court was named from the tavern on the corner where they conducted business) MACKIE, William, surveyor, 2 Charlotte Street, Blackfriars Road, SE 1 (gone, probably demolished when the 'new' bridge was built in 1860, Blackfriars Road is now its southern approach) Regards, David

    3. Hi Mike, Yes, thanks, I have them. It is peculiar. I picked up the last four baptisms from the Mormon film # 1239260 of the bishop's transcripts for the parish of Winterborne Whitchurch, Dorset. However, the BVRI-2 index shows those same baptisms, with the same names and dates, under the parish of Turnworth, which is about 5 miles to the north. Some day, I plan to check the film for the PR in Turnworth, just to verify whether those baptisms are also recorded there. At the moment, it is a mystery to me. That film # 1239260 does not even show Turnworth on its index of contents. My tentative conclusion is that the Mormons entered the wrong parish name in their BVRI-2 index. Cheers!
