Richard I cannot find a Holly House but there is a Holly House Nursery mentioned at http://tinyurl.com/cra6l this could be the one, I think it is Titchfield but not too sure as it is a pdf file and not very clear on locations. Nothing found about the gates even on our history of the village and surrounding area at http://southernlife.org.uk/titchfie.htm Chris Richard Parsons wrote: >Hello again Listers, >I have returned to yet again plead for help with a couple of questions. > >A Holly Hill House? I have, and did not, which is why I asked. But I thank you for your suggestions about Google Edna; I tried that too and had nothing specific. Perhaps I did delve deep enough. However thanks to David it may be that William had a room(s) or (more likely a cottage) on the estate, or at the 'House'. Thanks all, Richard PS if there are any KING researchers out there could you contact me please? -----Original Message----- From: Edna & Ken [mailto:ekbrit@rogers.com] Sent: 09 July 2005 14:14 To: ENG-HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-HANTS] Help needed...Maps Hi, Peruse some old maps, you may find it there... Dear Richard, In 1859 Holly Hill (no modifier) was a neat mansion in a beautiful park, the country seat of Lord William Henry Hugh Cholmondeley, CB, MP for South Hants. 1852-57. In 1875 it was the seat of Capt. Maxse, R.N.; in 1898-1911 it was home to plain old George Winn. Regards, David
Dear Richard, depending on the status of whoever you're researching, I would plump for 'Holly Hill Mansion', its drive runs west from Barnes Lane and it sits just south of the Cemetery in Holly Hill Woodland Park. All Southampton SO31 of course. Regards, David

Hi I am trying to find out information for my brother in law about his grandmother Gladys Etheline GREENIDGE who was born in 1902 in Southampton. I have yet to discover her parents. My brother in law has not yet ordered her birth certificate. If anyone has any links to the GREENIDGE family, then we would love to hear from you. Best wishes Jeanette
Graham, Everything your looking for is held at Hants Records office in Winchester. (Except copies of the certificates) See Link Below. http://www.hants.gov.uk/record-office/ Re the certificates. An original copy of the marriage certificate will be on microfiche within the parish register. The GRO will produce a copy for you for £7.00 or you can get a copy for £1.00 at the records office ( It could be less than that, ok won't be on the fancy paper but will have all the info your looking for). The death certificate can be ordered from the GRO http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp If you use this link it will take you straight to the order page however you'll need either the index number or the death date.
