    1. SARAH CHILDS and ELIZABETH PARSONS: Fareham 1841 census
    2. J P NIXEY
    3. Hi listers, I'm hoping that a very kind person with the Fareham census for 1841 will be able to find two people for me. SARAH CHILD(S) who was apparently born in Fareham around 1765 (according to the 1851 census). she could well be living with her daughter ELIZABETH PARSONS who would be aged around 33. If they are not in the same household as they were in 1851, then would it be possible to lookup Elizabeth for me as well please? She would have had her 6 year old daughter Sarah Jane (also seen as just Jane) with her. Many, many thanks in advance to anyone who is able to help, and kindest regards to everyone. From the Parish Records I have found other members of this Family and James is on the Marriage Certificate of John as the Father and Bentworth as place of birth, but I cannot find his Baptisim on the P.Records. 3. It could be the Miltary Prison for Aldershot Camp, which is described at www.hants.gov.uk/museum/aldershot/faq/glasshouse.html Aldershot is known as "The Home of the British Army". Aldershot Camp was established in 1854, with the South Camp situated within the boundaries of Aldershot, and the North Camp situated within the boundaries of Farnborough. The article shows that the prison was bounded by North Road, Redvers Buller Roads, and James Road. The location of these can be seeeen by going to www.streetmap.co.uk and searching for Street "redvers buller road". WILLIAMS Thomas - Prison - unm - 19 - Solider - b Glos, Bristol Unfortunately I do not have previous pages, and would like to find out what sort of establishment Thomas was in? One the same page are Sargeant Major's Medical Corps and their families, so take it to be either a Military Priston, or a Prison which is part of a Military Establishment. Perhaps somebody with local knowledge of Farnborough could clarify for me. Many thanks Pat in Grimsby, Lincolnshire.

    2. Hello Pat, I have no local or Army knowledge but from headings and previous pages on the 1891 Census it appears to be, Farnborough North Camp, District Head Quarters & Garrison Staff and includes a Military Prison. It also includes Army Families etc. Hope this helps. Jean.
