Is there anyone who may be able to assist me finding information on the birth of a g.grandfather, William Henry LAMBERT. It was thought by older members of the family that he came from the Marchwood/Eling area, being born 1832/3. On a merchant navy doc., he lists his birthplace as Southampton. In the 1901 census he states Southampton also. He names a William Lambert as his father on a marriage certificate. thanks in anticipation, derek.

Hi Jon Thanks for that but I am afraid not my lot. Sarah Ann Crocker Nee Chandler nee Catchpole was born abt 1878 Ashcott, Somerset, daughter of James Catchpole and Elizabeth Ann Wheeler. This Alfred Crocker was born abt 1857 and I believe was a Merchant Navy captain. They retired in a house/cottage called Parramatta (after his favourite ship) in Ringwood. I have only just started on this person so cannot at the moment give you any further info on him. I believe they had a daughter Alice.
