    3. You obviously have not referred to my book* recently Chris, or you would have remembered that Magdalen Hill Cemetery was not opened until 1916 !!. Unless the 1905 burial was in a churchyard, which is unlikely, the most probable place for the burial would have been the West Hill Cemetery, Winchester, which had been opened from 1840. The records up to 1908 (unconsecrated) and 1918 (consecrated) are held by the Hampshire Record Office, who may do a lookup for you if you send them an email. Or you could ask on this list if anyone is going there soon. * The Cemeteries of Hampshire: Their History and Records. 3. Thanks for the suggestion I will try the council I had tried the Hampshire archives which I have found good in the past he is a bit of a mystery man I think he went to school in Frome Somerset 1891 away from home as well unlike the other children. I remember visiting a family near Bournemouth in about 1958 that had a supermodel train set I wonder if it was his son. 3. Can anyone tell me any thing about TICHBORNE ESTATE my Great grandmother , Alice LANGRISH was born there 30th September 1851. I have her birth certificate it says Registration District DROXFORD , Sub-District WESTMEON . She was the daughter of Robert LANGRISH & Elizabeth SIMS. A hand written note by her son says she was born in Hampshire , Midlands or Midleans , (the writing is poor not sure of this one name) on TICHBORN ESTATE . Her father was a carpenter , I presume on the Estate . As far as I know all her 8 sisters and Alice were "in service " . Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thelma , Vernon, B.C. ,

    3. As Chris says, Forton was originally part of the parish of Alverstoke. It became a parish in its own right in 1841. The Forton parish registers date from 1840 for baptisms and 1841 for marriages and burials. 1. Forton, Hampshire
    2. PMR
    3. Hello Listers I have seen reference on the List to the parish of Forton in Hampshire but can't find it on Parish Locator. Could someone tell me, please, how far it is from Alverstoke (I'm interested in checking out near-by parishes) and is it an 'ancient parish' or of more recent establishment? Many thanks.
