    1. Burial Register - GIBSON
    2. McGuinness
    3. Hi Everyone My great grandma Ellen GIBSON born GO(U)LDING is not reclining in the West Hill Cemetery. Ellen died 26th January 1905 and if there is anyone who could check the burial register of St Johns Churchyard , Winchester I would be very grateful. I think that is the next nearest to Eas Cliffe where she died. I think her father Charles GOULDING was buried in St Johns Chruchyard. He drowned in the River Itchen and his body was removed fron the water on 17th August 1878. Many thanks Magdalen in South Africa

    3. Dear Listers, I am new to this list and I am hoping that SKS may be able to help me with a look up please?....I am not sure if you do look ups for 1930`s but, hoping that you can help? I am helping my cousin with her family history and have found a Brick wall again!.... My cousins Father met and married a Lady who was born in Norfolk but, lived in Aldershot when they met. Her name was Bella Harriett Maud Trimmer( married name) who was married to, Harry George Trimmer in 1935 in Aldershot. We know they adopted two boys but have no info about them as yet!. Harry divorced Bella and she married Geoffrey Grimm in Aldershot on July 22nd 1953. He was in the army at the time, we believe. Is it at all possible to find out where Bella and Harry lived in Aldershot please?..... Is it possible to find out who his family were?....Sorry to be so vague but, we don't seem able to find anything out!..... We would love to add them to the "tree" but, stuck against this brick wall. We do not want to contact them!..It is just some info we need. Please?...... We would be so very grateful for anything you can help with and I look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks, Sandra.

    3. My deepest and sincerest thanks to Pat from Derby who has found the following info in the 1841 census of Fareham: Adress: Windmill Lane, fareham Elizabeth Parsons, age 33, YES (born in county) William Parsons, age 15, Labourer, NO Jane Parsons, age 6, YES George Williams, age 24, Labourer, NO I'm almost positive that either the enumerator wrote George's age wrong as 53 not 33 in the 1851 census, or someone was telling porkies??!!! There is a George Williams in gosport in 1861 (b1817) who was married to Ann from Wiltshire. Oddly, there appears to be a suitable gap in their children around 1843 to 1848 for Rhoda, James and Henry all to have been born to Elizabeth parsons. A coincidence? More info needed on George's family, but he appears to be living in the forton area, so could well be a seaman, as recorded on Henry's marriage cert in 1871. I wonder where the name Allberry and all it's variants that were used came from? His mother's maiden name maybe? Well, this 1841 census has now given me some more to work on, that's for sure! regards to all, Jon -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 3. Hi Pat, I recognised the name as soon as I saw it, but thought I wonder how many of our listers will realise who it is, I lived in Cornwall for 3 years many years ago so knew the name from the bridge linking Devon and Cornwall, must admit however I not really familiar with whatever else he created but was an interesting find. 1. Re: [ENG-HANTS] BUBB 1 851 Look Up
    2. David DOWD
    3. Dear Angie, yes, there do seem to be rather a lot of them locally, I collected them because I thought they might tie in with my wife's family, but no luck so far. The name is ancient, from Old English Bubba but I don't know what it meant. First recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Brictmar Bubba in Suffolk; Henry Bubba in Hampshire Pipe Rolls 1173; William Bubbe in Curia Regis Rolls for Dorset 1219. Melbury Bubb is a farm hamlet of 31 dwellings in Dorchester District, North-west Dorset and is named from the Bubbe family who held the manor even under the Normans (not unheard of, but they must have been influential. The existing manor house, now a farm, is Elizabethan). Though the modern church of St. Mary the Virgin dates from 1474, Anglo-Saxon bits and pieces have survived. Behind the church Bubb Down rises to form a wooded hill. In the 1690s a Mr. Baker, tenanting Bublawns Farm, was murdered on Bubdown Hill and his ghost is said to haunt the farm track. The family appear to have 'moved on' for there are none in the published records from the 17th century. Best of luck in your endeavours, David

    3. Dear David Thank you so very much for such a detailed list. I think I have found James BUBB I want aged 15 living with mother Ann BUBB (I know that she was born abt 1811 born Beaulieu from the 1881 and 1871 but she was a widow. The 1861 says she was married to Charles BUBB. This is fantastic! Now I can look for the marriage. It seemed such an unusual name but judging from your list - there are heaps of them there. I am sure they will all be connected somewhere so such a wonderful lead. Thank you once again. Hi List This reminds me of the time I was looking up a baptism for an antipodean correspondent, and found her ancestor's entry on the same page as that of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, son of Mark Brunel (who built the world's first powered production line in Portsmouth Dockyard, for making pulley blocks). When I proudly reported this to my correspondent, I got the bemused reply 'Who's Isambard Kngdom Brunel?' 3. I wonder if anyone has access to 1851 census of Exbury in Hampshire - Looking for James BUBB. His wife Elvira HAWKINS was born in 1 838 so I would expect him to be born around the same time. Many thanks to anyone who has access to this census and can help me. Kind regards Angie
