John KITCHEN and Jane BENDELL were married in 1844, Southampton: Sarah Jane KITCHEN, chr. 20 December 1846, Eling, Hampshire, m. Joseph John SHAW, 3 September 1871, Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire Anna Maria KITCHEN, chr. 26 March 1854, Eling, Hampshire, as far as I can ascertain, she remained unmarried. She could have had a daughter, *Jessie Elizabeth, b. ab. 1874, Portsmouth, Hampshire who appears in the 1881 Census with the family. Alfred George KITCHEN, b. 1865, Portsea, Hampshire Rose Elizabeth KITCHEN, b. 1865, Portsea, Hampshire; looks like she and her brother Alfred were twins Jessie KITCHEN, b. ab. 1868, Portsmouth, Hampshire *Jessie Elizabeth KITCHEN, b. 1874 above, m. George MARTIN (b. 1877, Fareham, Hampshire) during the December Qtr of 1894 in Portsea Island, Hampshire. These two I thought were my great grandparents, but alas, they were not. **Hannah Payne Bendal/Bendell - According to the 1881 Census, where she is listed as Ann Bendell, if this is the correct person, she was born about 1796 in Portsea. ~~~~~~~~ I post the above people to the list as they are not mine. 3. Hello Ann in Australia Thank you very much for your reply and your kind remarks about the beautiful Canadian province in which I have the good fortune to live. This is the time of year when our rivers turn red with salmon returning to spawn. It is poignant to see them battle their way back to the place of their birth and know that, in order to become fertile, their internal organs are breaking down as they swim towards their destiny - "they die so that they may live". Thank you also for adding my Robert Chandler to your Blacksmiths Index, which I have looked at and found interesting and informative. Best wishes Dick Chandler in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. 1. Blacksmiths Index
    2. Ann & Terry Spiro
    3. Hello Dick Chandler I once visited Salmon Arm while on a 6 weeks coach tour to all the National parks (myself and 2 friends (all of us RN's). What a wonderful sight looking down the ravine and seeing those concrete pools built (I think) to help the salmon jump up the river??? That was 25 years ago. Anyway , on to talking about Blacksmiths in the family. I am going to add your Blacksmith Robert Chandler to my new Blacksmiths Index. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blacksmiths This merely an index of blacksmiths and where they were born and/or worked. I have included just one close family member for cross reference purposes, usually a wife but sometimes a parent or child. Not all the spelling mistakes are mine - many census entries are wrong but I don't like to change the original. Regards Ann in Australia explorer@smartchat.net.au

    3. Hi Edna in Ottawa; I've already checked the batches from Hambledon, T.W. isn't on them. He didn't produce christening records when he applied to HEIC. Actually there are two Thomas Wallers, both MD's father and son. I know quite a bit about TW the son as he was my Grandmothers grandfather and the Brits kept quite good records in India. His youngest son emigrated to Tasmania Australia and they kept good records there too. Thanks for your interest. You might like to know one result of my search is to find a cousin living in South Africa. He's the great great grandson of a brother of my great great grandfather.Together we have different things we have found out and when we put them together we have a more comprehensive picture. Pat
