    3. Hi Has any kind soul got access to the HURSLEY PRs for the mid 18th Century? I am looking for a William BUNCE b c 1775 and his parents. I then need to find from the PRs if this William marries a Martha about 1799 and do they have a son Charles B c1802. They may be my 3x gt, 4 x gt and 2 x gt grandparents but there are several William BUNCES in Hursley/ Winchester c 1760 to 1810 and the IGI and Census records are inconclusive If there is a way to definitely link the three then this would be much appreciated Many thanks Graham

    3. Hi List, I am sure many of you have heard of the LDS project to index ALL their holdings and post them free on the internet. The indexing is now live and if you want to help with the project you can join in. As far as I can see, most of the current batches for indexing are USA census records for 1900, but the sooner this gets done the quicker they will move on to other records, including, of course, UK census, parish registers etc etc. I have had a short "go" and am extremely impressed with the LDS project, a minimum of typing as there is autocomplete on most of the fields. I also like the way that the field you are looking at is actually high-lighted, so you don't spend ages finding your place in the document. A batch is a single sheet of the census return, so you can contribute just a single page - takes about 30-40 mins. You need to download and install the software, but this is quick and easy. For details: http://www.familysearchindexing.org/en/index.jsp Kind regards Sandra

    3. Hi, I am trying to find out if there is any monumental inscriptions or bdms for this area in the early/mid 1600's - I have some Mortimer's deaths but no further information. I have checked the IGI. Any help greatly appreciated. As to why he's shown as a labourer, that could range from a reaction to the loss of his wife as such a young age, to his health becoming poor, to decline of work, to the enumerator being officious. > Lymington fits for birth as, no > doubt you're aware, Pennington is right on the doorstep. He could have done because Jane jnr married in Northants but I'm not sure what took her up there in the first place. My great grandfather was a shoe and boot maker. > At least you have enough info to use the GRO's matching service. I started off with just her name and her parents names with no idea of how old they were. Couldn't find their marriage when I expected it to be. Found her brother in the 1881 so looked for him in the 1861 and that's what gave me the siblings and the parents approx DoBs and their marriage much earlier than I'd expected. The IGI isn't producing any clues either so familyhistoryonline will be my next stop and I'll chase down the siblings as well :)) -- Charani (UK)

If anyone has access to the North Waltham Parish records could they please look up the marriage of Joseph Chivers and Hannah Tayler on 7th April 1801. this info was gleaned from Phillimores and I'm hoping there is more info on the actual parish records to confirm a couple of things. Also, any sign of a Joseph Chivers being baptised in North Waltham around 1784 ? Many thanks for any help Lesley
