Mods: I know that this probably counts as completely OT but it is related to my family history project so I hope you will let it pass! I have some standard 35mm trannies and negs, plus some larger trannies and negs, which I need to scan for posterity and for eventual inclusion on my web site. Can anybody recommend a good scanner which can handle non-standard sizes? I’m prepared to throw a bit of dosh at this as I know that the ones you find in the likes of John Lewis and Comet probably won’t do what I need to do. Rather than clog everyone’s inboxes, it might be best to reply to me (HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]"[email protected]) rather than the list. I’m in the UK so UK-based stores or web sites would be best. Many thanks for your time. Hi all We have been advised today that there was an error on the link for the Southampton St Mary marriages - this is a full index contributed by Sandra Smith covering from the start of registers through to 1837 (thanks again Sandra!) This is not a full transcription but is an excellent aid to checking the records to find (or eliminate) those elusive ancestors. Take care Linda & Tony

G'day I don't know about prisons but many asylums (mental hospitals) had their own cemeteries within their grounds. I can anly assume that prisons which were after all secure institutions would have done something similar. From my Hursley index, William Bunce married Martha COVER in 1796. I checked the BT's and the marriage took place 03 January 1796. There are a number of Bunce marriages in Hursley, but not a William until 1822 when a William Bunce marries an Elizabeth RUSSIN (11 apr), He was a bachelor and just by the by one of my relatives (Robert Misselbrook) was a witness! Thank you very much Sandra. May I ask if you have in Hursley marriage records a Wiiliam Bunce marriage to a Martha (late 1790s) and Martha's maiden name. I am trying to define who were my gt,gt,gt grandparents and there are two William Bunces. One married an Elizabeth (now it looks as if this could have been in Winchester) and one married a Martha. It could be that William (b about 1775) in Hursley is the one who married Martha, in Hursley. It still wouldn't be 100% definitive but knowing this would help Thanks again Graham -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sandra J Smith Sent: 08 April 2007 01:00 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [ENG-HANTS] Elizabeth Jukes Hi Graham, I have an index to the marriages of Hursley and there are no Jukes marriages there 1600-1837. Dear All I am trying to find any information or confirmation of the birth of Elizabeth Jukes born circa 1775 either Winchester or Hursley Hampshire. She may have been known as Betsy. Possible marriage late 1790s A trawl of several of the usual sources over many months has proven to be fruitless. Thanks Graham
Interested in the WATERMAN surname specifically those involved in the Newfoundland migratory cod fishery late 1600's and early to mid 1700's. Have found the name in Xch and Holdenhurst as well as Trinity and other places in Nfld. (James Waterman circa 1750's likely from Xch) Also still looking for AYLES of Xch. (Benjamin Ayles, chairmaker of Xch, 1756). Thnx. Happy Easter.
