Hello everyone, There was a birth of Augustus VINCENT registered in Portsea, Mar Qtr 1847, but I cannot find him in the 1851 census. I have a hunch that he was later known as Augustus DIMMER. Is there anyone able to check his baptism, probably in St Mary's? Many thanks, Liz Coles in Munich

Well, I have no idea,,, but IF your data mentions Pinks Jams of Hants there may well be a connection! Thanks for your effort! Hi Judy- I do not know if there is any connection but in 1897 there is a Sir William Pink who is an alderman to the borough of Portsmouth. Also a H.R. Pink is a councillor in the same year. The mayor George E Couzens was proposed by Sir William Pink. If you find this Pink is your pink, then I have some newspaper cuttings which give his name in asssociation with his duties to the mayor. - Caroline
Anybody have any info on the PINKS family of Pinks Jams fame? My great grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth ANDREWS from Farringdon and her mother was Sarah Pink. I know nothing about her father either - Mr. Andrews- so if anyone can shed a beam of light on this branch of the tree, it would enhance the (Kent )Mathew family history, I am writing.... especially as I already have the New Forest Hendeys whose granddaughter married into the Mathew family . Thanks. Judy
As Frances has said this is a common name in the whole of the New Forest and its outskirts. Quite a few FRAMPTONs are to be found around the Totton(Eling) and Cadnam areas. Hello Catherine Yes, Fordingbridge and Frampton seem to go together ! Your info suggests that Anne (if not the husband) was from Fordingbridge. While the dates are possible (my John is b 1781), looking at IGI I can't see an Anne who could be his sister. There's an Anne b 1783 in Fordingbridge (too young and different parents) but nothing else that's obvious. But we're talking very common names here so can't be sure at all. Any more thoughts would be most welcome ! Hello David Many thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, none of these areas are on my list even though all the names match ! Bungey (or Bungay/Bungy) is Christchurch and many years ago (late 50s-early 60s) I went to school in Chch with a Bungay before my family emigrated ! I'm mainly looking at Milton (Corbins), Christchurch (Payne), Portsmouth & Milton (Cawte and Adams), Fordingbridge (Frampton) and Breamore (Cheater) - is that near Dibden ?? Thanks again for replying. Hi Francis, I'm afraid all your places, apart from Portsmouth, are in that strange unexplored land ('here be dragons') at the west of Hampshire, and we don't go there. Regards, David
