    2. Rhonda Flowers
    3. Hello Linda My maiden name was Munday. I live in Australia. My father was Wilfred Ronald Munday, his father was Joseph James Munday, his father was Thomas Munday all born here in Australia. Thomas's father was Joseph Munday born Hampshire England 1802. Joseph's parents were James Munday and Sarah Simson. Joseph born 1802 had several siblings and one was an Elizabeth whose living descendants I have a DNA match with. Of course she is not your Elizabeth however the families could still be related. My email address is rwflowers@optusnet.com.au Regards Rhonda Flowers -----Original Message----- From: Linda Maitland <lindamaitland@telus.net> Sent: Tuesday, 14 January 2020 12:53 PM To: eng-hampshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-HANTS]Last Post - MAIDEN, MUNDAY, BROOKS families in Fawley, Dibden, Winchester and Southampton My one English line is based in Hampshire. William MAIDEN married Elizabeth MUNDAY in 1816 in Fawley. He was born in Winchester in 1796 and his first child (Joseph, my ancestor) was born in Winchester in January 1817. Succeeding children were born in Southampton where William was found to be a copper plate printer in the 1841 census. My ancestor, Joseph, settled in Belleville, Canada after a career in the Royal Artillery, however, his siblings remained in Southampton and married into the following families: CHANDLER, PRIMMER, DAVIS, WATSON. William MAIDEN married a second time in 1833 to Mary WHEELER, and those children married into the SUMMERTON and HEAD families. Elizabeth MUNDAY¹s parents, William MUNDAY and Elizabeth BROOKS, married in 1790 in Dibden. Their other children married into the SCOREY and MUSSELWHITE families. I would love to hear from anyone who connects to any of these families. 3. As I understand it, email addresses are stripped out of the messages in the archive. So if you want anyone to contact you in the future, you will need to include a cryptic email address in the message which won't get removed eg joe.bloggs AT provider DOT com Lesley Colwyn Bay On 12/01/2020 10:20, Duty Administrator wrote: > A surprise announcement from RootsWeb, stumbled upon and not sent to most > Listowners states; > > *" Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb > will be discontinued. 3. Thanks, Tony, You are certainly not causing any problem for I think this is an *excellent* opportunity to dump all the overlapping and secondary mailings lists and re-focus on a centralised master facility. I wholeheartedly support a mass migration to the Hampshire Groups.IO - I have just joined myself! I therefore urge all list members to send "the Last Post" to this list just to log your interests and to hurtle off to https://groups.io/g/Hampshire-England-genealogy or just click this mailto link to join. Hampshire-England-genealogy+subscribe@groups.io See you on the Other Side.... 2. For those that may be interested, we have set up a Groups.io mailing list for Hampshire, replacing the previous Hampshire-L, Portsmouth/Gosport & Southampton Rootsweb lists. The subscription email that must be used is: Hampshire-England-genealogy+subscribe@groups.io Alternatively, go to the Groups.io website, search for Hampshire genealogy and click the button "join this list! 3. Geoff I have found the bits on William that you mention. If the offer still stands could you look at the Ann Bramble marriage on the PR fiche for the 1843 marriage and confirm who she actually married. Unfortunately there are a lot of common first names for the Bramble's and I am just trying to tie down the right one and the marriage partner. — Regards Colin Spencer https://le-fever.org http://spencer-genealogy.com On 05/01/2020, 18:35, "Newaddress" <geoff_newaddress@btinternet.com> wrote: Colin His name is definitely Herridge as there is a baptism for a William Henry Herridge 16/4/1819 at Weeke to parents John & Sarah. Also the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses list them as William and Ann Herridge. Ann dies in 1880 and William is a widower in the 1881 census and then living in Ashley with son Walter in 1891 and 1901. Searching the various Winchester parish registers might take a while. Geoff Rogers

    1. [ENG-HANTS]Re: 1851 - Ann Howard ROBINS
    2. Good Morning Pam, Here is some information I promised regarding the Marchioness of Londonderry. I am now reading through the Diary to see if the family which you are researching are mentioned. Arrival of the Marchioness 10th December 1854. Extract from the diary of William Kerridge. “…We came into the harbour just about a 14/4 to elven o’clock. The morning is very fine and lovely, the sea as calm as a lake and on our right and left side lay the land of our adoption, our first impression of the country is very pleasing and this side of the picture is very different to the starting side. We see surround with land green in places and at the water’s edge are huge blocks of sandstone tumbled about as nature and time have left them. Very warm now and people sport their large rimmed straw hats, which are well adapted for protection of the eyes from the sun. We see small boats plying about. The reporter from the Sydney Empire came on board and the English news is received from Melbourne down to October per cargo steamship 61 days by which we learn the fall of Sebastopol and Burnosund. The English and French loss was 3 thousand, Russians 10 thousand destroyed by blowing up of a fort and 22 thousand taken prisoners. Also, rebellion with the gold diggers at Ballarat was of a very serious nature, between some of the military killed civilians. Cause of insurrection with the licence fee. Captain received papers. We have 4 papers put on board, which give us news and make us feel at home in the world once more. Thank God in my heart that we have arrived safe this far. This morning ship from Liverpool the St Helena arrived a few hours before us, 105 days from Liverpool. We have a Mrs Williams with us and her sister came out by the St. Helena, which is also in quarantine. We are sufficiently near from them to exchange signals to recognise each other. Two boats came down in the afternoon to inquire if the friends are well and one came in the evening with the husband and daughter of the poor lady that died on the passage and this was a painful case to all to give them, such bad news. Mrs Myall is the wife of the Harbour Master and he came down to see his wife and two children, after an absence of 3 years. Altogether this is a very eventful day or our lives. Clear blue skies all day and starlight at night and with this I close my days report on the arrival to Port Jackson. The doctor felt there was enough evidence to support the ship to be redirected to the Quarantine Station, which was at the base of the North Headland. Great disappointment was felt by all the passengers, as they felt there was no cause for the ship and the passengers to be quarantined, as everyone on board were in a good state of health. There was not one case of sickness on board the ship, however the order to quarantine was given, so that all the passengers clothes could be washed and all bedding burnt on the beach, if it was deemed necessary. Signed: William Kerridge. This was the last entry in William;s diary. Regards, Janice Doughty, Belrose, Sydney, Aust. Greetings Listers The next date I have for Ann (or Annie) is 10 Dec 1854 when she arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, on the /Marchioness of Londonderry. /Ann died in Sydney in 1881, aged 80. Many thanks Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia
