The 1871 census shows relatives of mine living in Weeke and the IGI has an extracted record for a son of the household being Christened at "Weeke Near Winchester, Hampshire, England" in 1863. Tanner's Winchester Directory, 1877 has the household still living at Newburgh Street, as in 1871, and also shows the head of the household as being an Overseer of St Mary's Church, Wyke. Now, were Wyke and Weeke one and the same place, or neighbouring villages or what? -- Jenny M Benson
