Hello Jenny You may be better subscribing to this to _HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com) . There is no such parish as Wyke in Hampshire although there is a Wyke near Weymouth in Dorset. As regardsWeeke Winchester the main church is St Matthew with St Barnabus as a daughter church and St Paul as a chapel. There is no St Mary at Weeke. Hope this helps,Linda and Tony The 1871 census shows relatives of mine living in Weeke and the IGI has an extracted record for a son of the household being Christened at "Weeke Near Winchester, Hampshire, England" in 1863. Tanner's Winchester Directory, 1877 has the household still living at Newburgh Street, as in 1871, and also shows the head of the household as being an Overseer of St Mary's Church, Wyke. Now, were Wyke and Weeke one and the same place, or neighbouring villages or what? -- Jenny M Benson
