    3. Hi Edna, the post code on streetmap only gives the first four digits, whereas there are usually another three or four in a full postcode. The Green Lane shown on Streetmap is the one at Hardway. The one in the Alverstoke area of Gosport may not have a postcode because there are no houses actually fronting onto it. It is quite leafy and rural looking, and I can remember some big stag beetles lying on the path when I had to walk down it once! If you go to www.multimap.com, search for Gosport, then go to the 1;10000 scale, and click west twice, you will see Green Lane just south of Foster Gardens. On that map it is a small cul-de-sac, but on my map here it looks like a normal road, whereas neither is really correct. It is actually shown on streetmap too, just search for The Paddock and it is right next to there Margaret ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edna & Ken" <ekbrit@rogers.com> To: <ENG-HAM-PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 27, 2005 12:14 AM Subject: [PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT] Green Lane, Gosport & Portsmouth > > Hi, I noticed on Streetmap that the postal code was the same for both > Alverstoke and Gosport but different for Portsmouth. > > Edna - Ottawa > > > > > ==== ENG-HAM-PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT Mailing List ==== > Visit the knightroots website at www.knightroots.co.uk > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection.
