    3. Philip, I have the marr. cert. of John Coote and Elizabeth Gawn, Nov 24 1857, St Mary, Alverstoke. - John, widower, pilot, resident in Gosport, of full age, was the son of John Coote, pilot. - Elizabeth, spinster, resident in Gosport, of full age, no occupation, was the da. of Stephen Gawn, pilot. - Witnesses: Rd. Lacy; Hannah Germain. I suspect Lacy was the parish clerk (he witnessed other marriages at St Mary). I've no idea who Hannah Germain was. - Married by A.C. Blunt, Curate. I've several candidates for Stephen Gawn but cannot tell which is the right one. As you know from previous correspondence my Gawn family were resident in East Street, Portsmouth, and the surrounding streets, in the 19th century. Best wishes, Peter Gawn (Canada). ----- Original Message ----- From: <EWRAYSURE@aol.com> To: <ENG-HAM-PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 27, 2005 7:11 AM Subject: Coote family - Trinity Pilots from Old Portsmouth > Does anyone have an interest in the Coote family > who lived in East Street, Seagers Court, Red Lion Yard > and St Thomas Street in Old Portsmouth in the nineteenth century? > > Three brothers John, George and William, were pilots. > > Philip >
