Many thanks for these. To add to the mix, in between these marriages the grooms' sister had an illegitimate daughter! Mind you, I'm finding that a lot of my ancestors had 2 or 3 (and in 1 case 4) children before they got married, and several managed to tie the knot just in time!! Well at least now I can say the fact that my kids and my wedding came the wrong way round is genetic! ;-) Becci ----- Original Message ----- From: <Knightroots@aol.com> To: <ENG-HAM-PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 10, 2005 9:02 PM Subject: [PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT] Wingate marriages > Hello Becci > here are the full details of the 2 marriages. > > St Marys Portsea > CHU3/1D/47 > page 58 no 115 Feb 4 1849 Stephen WINGATE full age Bachelor Seaman HMS > Excellent and Jane WARREN Minor Spinster 4 Oxford Street married after banns > fathers John WINGATE Pensioner and Richard WARREN Sawyer in the presence of > X the mark of Mary Ann DARBY and William DARBY > > CHU3/1D/50 > page 25 no 50 April 1 1852 James WINGATE full age Widower Seaman HMS > Auth---- ? and Jane WINGATE Widow full age 4 Oxford Street married after > licence fathers John WINGATE Coastguard and Richard WARREN Sawyer in the > presence of X the mark of Ann ANDREWS and Job ANDREWS > > Snap we have the same situation! your hunch was right Becci. > Hope they help,Linda and Tony > > Could I ask for the following lookups please? > > STEPHEN WINGATE married JANE WARREN > 4/2/1849 St Marys,Portsea > > JAMES WINGATE married JANE WINGATE > 1/4/1852 St Marys, Portsea > > I have an inkling that the grooms are brothers and the bride is the same > person! > > > > > ==== ENG-HAM-PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT Mailing List ==== > Granny SMITHs aren't just the name of an apple they are in many a family tree too > > ============================== > Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records. > New content added every business day.
