The marriage entry and baptism relating to the BRAMLEs wer spelled ROSS. On free BMD site there is a marriage for a Jemima ROHSS Dec 1/4 1871 Portsea district. Also if you go to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm clcik on country slection menu, then England, then Hampshire and then P for Portsea put in a name top right hand corner and close a window each time you click on a church and the name will return on its own for the surname ie ROHSS. There will be a variation as many couldn't read or write and therefore there was a tendency to write as sounded. Hope you can understand what we have written it isn't as awfl as it sounds and very fruitful. Good luck Meg. Linda and Tony Thanks very much for the information re Mary Ann Ross. Are you able to say if there were any Röhss entries in the Portsea area?
Many thanks once again. I am going to change to digest mode as this seems to be a very active list and a very helpful as well.
