I am looking for info regarding the above and her parents. Emily Ann Vie was born in 1828 but as to where that is confusing. One census states Dorchester but all the others Portsmouth. With all the discussion recently about Porchester I am now beginning to wonder if the ennumerator got it wrong and it should have been Porchester not Dorchester. I have looked at the original and it definately states Dorchester, however... Emily's father was William MARSH who was a sawyer in the dockyard when she married in 1851. Her address was given as Cherry Garden Field Portsea. She married James LANE. Could someone clear up the question of her birth for me please? I have marriage death and census details. Thankyou Sue
