    2. PPL possibly Placed on Pension List. HMS Tribune was fairly busy from 1854 to 1855 with the Crimean War destroying a Russian Tower in 1854, the 1st Bombardment of Sevastopol 1854, destroying the Kimburne Forts 1855 and the 2nd Bombardment of Sevastopol. She then moved to the South China sea where her ships boats were in action at Canton destroying many war boats. The young gentlemen being educated would be Cadets and Midshipmen although training underwent a major change in 1853. The rate of pay would indicate a rank of Leading Seaman so the men under training could be gunners. JohnWinton's "Hurrah for the Life of a Sailor" would provide valuable background to this period.
