Hi Santa & Hampshire Elves I would love to find out more about a Sarah SHAW, she has twice appeared with my HINES family. First was when she registered the death of Richard Hines in 1848 " Sarah Shaw present at the death Wingfield Street Portsea". Richard was married and had 3 sons - so assumed this was a neighbour or friend who knew the ropes about registering deaths - saving his widow the "stress" of registering Richard's death. Amelia, Richard's widow, remarried in October 1850 to a Thomas ANCELL. Amelia's maiden name was LITTLEFIELD and she was born about 1812 in Portsea. Sarah SHAW then turns up living/staying with the married sister of Richard - Jane FRANKLIN (born 1819, Elson) in Hackney in the 1861 Census. Sarah Shaw is listed as "cousin" age 80, Widow, no occupation, born Elson. As Jane was born in 1819 and Sarah Shaw about 1780 - the "cousin" is a bit questionable. I am wondering whether Sarah is her aunt born in Donhead St Andrew, Wiltshire in 1776.
