I did wonder about a previous marriage, but I hadn't actually taken in the date of the marriage to Emma, which would have told me it must have been so. Have now found Emma Pink inn the 1861. Ann was said to be born in Alverstoke so I would image Frederick was living there at the time, but I have just this moment found him, I think, on board a ship - which would tally with him being described later on as a "Pensioner."
