    3. Hi listers Has anyone used the CLIP(Crew List Index Project)database? The authors describe it as a "fully searchable database with more than 270,000 records. The data has been sorted into the records matching particular vessels". Also, has anyone used the Navy List 1866 CD? Both are available from the website below: http://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/nameindex/productinfo.php?id=25 I am still searching for two seamen in my family: William Lemmon (Lemon), born about 1834, with a father Thomas Lemon. He married in 1859 and was given as a seaman in the merchant service on the birth certificate of his son, born in 1865. His wife is a widow as of the 1871 census. John Little, born abt 1835 in Bristol, Somerset, England, living as of 1861 in Canton River China, Vessels, Royal Navy, England (the Weazel). He is a petty officer in the Royal Navy as of 1868. He died about 1879. At some point, I would love to go to the National Archives and track these two down, but in the meantime, am wondering about the above two resources. Thanks for any help! 3. This info was given for my great-grandfather: >From "The Mercantile Navy List " for 1857: John Charles Worth (1830-1897) passed his Master Mariner's Certificate of Competency as 1st Mate in 1854 at Bristol. Certificate No. 7097. As yet I have not proceeded any further. For RN records, you will need information from Kew nr. London.
