Hi Jon, if you haven't already found it, William Rathmell's naval service record may be downloadable from the National Archives documentsonline service, if the following brief details from the search are at least a close match: William Rathmell, born 24th December 1850, Newton, Hampshire. The difference between the birthplace here and that in the census and GRO index is interesting. It is possible the naval record is wrong; this happens not infrequently. There is one sheet of service information (ships served on etc) in pdf format for £3-50. Cheers, Ian jonnixey.fh wrote: > Hi folks, > > I finally found the Rathmell family I thought were missing in 1891. I even searched for Caleb as I thought it was an unusual name but still nothing showed up. You can see why below. did a first name search on Charlotte the mum and voila! Could someone with a pair of working peepers please let me know the additional info on the household below please? Such as occupations, address etc. Many thanks in advance, > Kindest regards to all, > Jon > > about Charlotte Kathmell > Name:Charlotte Kathmell > Age:36 > Estimated birth year:abt 1855 > Relation:Wife > Spouse's name:William > Gender:Female > Where born:Portsmouth, Hampshire, England > Civil parish:Portsea > Ecclesiastical parish:St Mark > County/Island:Hampshire > Country:England > Registration district:Portsea Island > Sub-registration district:Kingston > ED, institution, or vessel:13 > Household Members:NameAge > Cabeb Kathmell6 > Charlotte Kathmell36 > George Kathmell8 > James Kathmell10 > John I Kathmell12 > Sarah Kathmell4 > William Kathmell40 > William J Kathmell13 > Edward Sparks29 > Richard Wilkins23 >
Hi Ian, Thanks for that, really appreciate it. I haven't gone down that road yet but intend to. Thanks for confirming it's there. Very interesting about the different birthplace, yet I'm convinced that is him as there is basically no movement of Rathmell families in and around Portsmouth that early on that I've found yet. Many thanks once again, Jon
