    3. COURTNEY George COURTNEY suddenly appears in Portsea in 1890s & marries MARY STEVENS/STEPHENS daughter of CHARLES & MARY STEPHENS. Where did he come from? Census says Portsmouth but no records of him prior to his marriage exist. STEVENS/STEPHENS Charles STEVENS of STEPHENS was born in Devizes in 1843 & joined the RN. Last hear of as RN pensioner in 1891 census, missing from 1901. No record of death found. Widow Mary living with daughter Elizabeth ELMES in 1901 in Landport. STONEHAM STONEHAMS ran a family bakery business 1850 onwards in Portsea. Flora Alice STONEHAM married Edward WORTHINGTON in 1890s & had 2 children George & Flora Alice. WORTHINGTON Michael WORTHINGTON married into family of Edward LAVENDER taylor. Wife maybe LYDIA LAVENDER who had two Children Robert Henry or Henry Robert & Edward WORTHINGTON. But a mystery as to who married who exactly in the family & whose children they really were. Michael WORTHINGTON died 1881 age 31 yrs in Landport. Had been in Haslar. Lydia on death cert as widow, but she didn't get a pension. LAVENDER EDWARD LAVENDER, a taylor, with children Lydia/Sarah/William/Walter living Landport, Church Path in censuses throughout c19th. Wife Elizabeth NOBES.
