Mike, these individuals also appear in my tree: Emily Esther BRIGGS being my 1st cousin 3 times removed. The primary link is Emily (Minnie) DOLLERY, my gr-gr-gr aunt, daughter of my gr gr gr grandparents John Dollery and Jane GOODIFF. There is also another mysterious Briggs, not know to be related to this part of the family, who was alternatively known as Thomas SMART. He has a naval record naming him Thomas Smart alias Briggs, born around 1815. As Thomas Smart he married my gr gr gr grandmother Mary Ann ABBOTT nee BLAKE. ...slight correction: the mysterious Briggs married Mary Ann as Thomas Smart BRIGGS (his father is given the same name). This was in 1852. In the 1861 census however, he is listed as Thomas SMART. This really caused confusion when searching for my gr gr grandfather Edwin ABBOTT, as the same census has him as Edwin Abbott SMART!
