John CUMMINGS Captain 1st Garrison Battalion married Ann BOYTON of this Parish by License on 27th of October 1805 at Holy Trinity Alverstoke Gosport. Their son, John George William CUMMINGS baptised Holy Trinity 14th January 1807. This family came to Australia in 1808 on the Recovery Troop ship carrying men of the NSW Corps. Captain John CUMMINGS was the senior Officer. After many years searching, I still don't know where in England he came from. Army records for Officers speak in detail about promotion and regiment movements but don't mention origins of individuals. Still hoping for a link.
