Hi , I am sure there is an expert who can help you retrieve your backups. I am still using Family Tree Maker version 9 on Vista and although I have had the occasional problem and the whole lot disappears I manage to get it back again. I do have masses of records which I kept in Windows Data Base format and Vista will not read these files at all. Should have stayed with my old version. I believe if they can be saved in CVS they can then be read by EXcel. Mike waterlooville
