My ggf, George Silver Smith, age 36, died 14 Jun 1871, at Haslar RN hospital. He and many of his family were married at St Mary's Portsea in the 18th & 19th centuries. Now that I know his date of death, I'm not certain where to seek a record of his burial. I've searched the knightsroots burial database but no match. Can anyone give me a hint of where I might start looking now? Michael Kinney Portland, OR
He might have been buried at the burial grounds there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/content/articles/2007/03/26/haslar_history_feature.shtml Edna - Ottawa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike & Lucky" <Moi.PDX@comcast.net> To: <eng-ham-portsmouth-gosport@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 4:05 PM Subject: [PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT] Burial - George Smith - 1871 My ggf, George Silver Smith, age 36, died 14 Jun 1871, at Haslar RN hospital.
