    3. I've been working my way through 'one of mine' who died during WW1 and in his Service Record, there is mention of him receiving the HRH Princess Mary Gift.   I had no idea what it meant, so I've looked it up and thought it might be of interest.     Princess Mary was the daughter of Prince George, Duke of York, who later became George V. During WW1, she visited hospitals and welfare organisations with her Mother, assisting with projects to give comfort to British servicemen and assistance to their families. One of the projects was the Princess Mary's Christmas Gift Fund, through which £100.000 worth of gifts was sent to all British soldiers and sailors for Christmas 1914.   My William died Sept 1914, so the Gift was sent to his parents.   Jan
