Hello Linda and Tony, Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately, my Charles Hayles was probably born in the early 1800's (his son was born in 1835) and, as you know, the BMD records start at 1837+. Hello Joyce When looking for baptisms in Landport the churches for that era All Saints Landport started 1828, also St Marys church Portsea or non conformist churches ie Orange Street Independent.
