In case some listers aren't aware, the Gale Group is currently (for a limited period, but I don't know when it ceases) offering a free trial of its online archive. This is an amazing resource and well worth checking out while you can. Go to http://access.gale.com/gdctrial/index.html and enter your details; you can put "None" for the not-appliccable fields and use "International" for State. You will get immediate access to the archive and be sent login details to use thereafter. The British Newspapers 1600 - 1900 collection is a particularly rich hunting ground. It includes the Hampshire Telegraph and Sussex Chronicle and I have found numerous references to many of my Hampshire relatives. -- Jenny M Benson
There are subscribers to this list with Knight connections. Perhaps Arthur Egerton Knight figures in their family history. In this evening's Portsmouth News is an article about this Pompey footballer of the 1920s, having moved here in 1908. He also played for England in the 1912 and 1920 summer Olympics. He is buried in a marked grave in Highland Road Cemetery and the friends of the cemetery have been trying to track down his family to help maintain the grave. There are other names on the headstone, pictured in the newspaper, with the surname Clark. Ian

Hello, It looks as if the free trial is finished which is a shame since I found a mass of material from the Hampshire Telegraph & Post on it regarding my Portsea line in the 19thC. Does anyone know what happens now? Are we able to subscribe to it?
