    1. Elson Rd School Brockhurst
    2. Does anybody on this list know if records exist for the above school for the period 1925-1935? I've just found that my mum Phylis Barber attended during this period and am keen to find out more. Many thanks Tony, Bristol

    1. Re: [PORTSMOUTH-GOSPORT] Summer...................
    2. My most elusive ancestor is my maternal grandfather. He was a stonemason like his father, swimming champion of Staffordshire in 1910/11 and a bit of a rogue. He thought he killed a gamekeeper one evening and quietly disappeared for a year or so. The family were always on the move to escape the landlord or debt. I hunted for his marriage lines for years since my mother was baptised Hilda Clara MOORLEY the daughter of Sarah MORRIS now the wife of Harry MOORLEY. I should have known better after all these years to read these things more carefully. When I did find the marriage it had occurred on the very day my mothers birth was registered - a neat bit of tidying up. Go to the Registrar, get birth registered and get married all at the same time! Harry went to work on the War Memorial at Broadstone nr Poole one morning in 1927/8 and was never seen again! The one doubt I now have regarding my Grandfather is whether he really is my mothers father or was he the guy my grandmother managed to convince was the father of her child? Mike Waterlooville

    1. Summer...................
    2. Since summer is fast approaching (admittedly winter in the southern hemisphere) many of you will be planning vacations or trips of a genealogical nature, please be sure to share with us, your new found cousins, family history and research tips or plans. The lists tend to get a bit quiet this time of year but there are also many who can't travel or otherwise research outside the home. So...........we think it would be great to take this opportunity to post something. Who is your most elusive ancestor as in connection to this specific list? What are your goals? Do you have tips to share? A genealogy (non commercial!!) web site, perhaps? Writing and sharing a family story or tradition with us? Our eldest son gets wed on Saturday 18 June at Romsey Abbey and is the reason we have suspended lookups until the end of next week. Please feel free to send in dates of specific events and we will have a look as soon as we can. Great excitement in the Knight family and another branch to research on our tree. Take care Linda & Tony List Admin

    1. e-mail address
    2. Hello all just a quick note to you all as we have received suggestions that e-mails aren't getting thru to our e-mail address. So far as we're aware there are no problems and we are getting e-mails but lately we note that several listers sem to think of our e-mail as knightsroots when the correct one is _knightroots@aol.com_ (mailto:knightroots@aol.com) no S in the middle, perhaps this explains why? If anyone has any problems feel free to post to _bestcover@lineone.net_ (mailto:bestcover@lineone.net) we can always reply from either e-mail address. Take care and hope you're all ok,Linda and Tony

    3. Hello Listers I sent an email to Knightsroots but received the following 'reply' (not from them, but from an automated something-or-other): Your mail to the following recipients could not be delivered because they are not accepting mail from cliveden@acenet.net.au: knightroots I used their latest message as a 'reply to' so there's no possibility of typing something incorrectly. Could someone advise what I should do next please? I can't think what I've done wrong. I don't understand the colon at the end of my address - my address would have been the usual that is automatically produced when sending an email. I was wanting to find out the procedure for asking for a look up, and also to see if my possibly KNIGHT ancestor had any link with them. Help, please! Many thanks. 3. I was browsing the internet (as you do!) and found this website: HYPERLINK "http://www.framland.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/"http://www.framland.pwp.bluey onder.co.uk/ Which aims to "provide a photographic record of the various churches, churchyards, graveyards and cemeteries for the benefit of those genealogists who live some distance away". One of the pages is about two gravestones that need identifying. They are thought to be in or from Portsmouth: HYPERLINK "http://www.framland.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cshmi.htm"http://www.framland. pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cshmi.htm I thought maybe someone on this list might be able to help.
