This marriage took place at St Marys church Alverstoke (see IGI).The marriages for Alverstoke 1834-7 are not on fiche so sorry we cannot check out the details for this one. I would also like to know if Mary Jane MAY b. <1857> was chr. at St. Mary's Portsea like her brother William Henry, 5 Apr 1863, and sisters Grace, 12 Jun 1859 and Alice Ann, 31 Mar 1861. I only have her age from the 1881 census to go on, as I have not found her birth registration on FreeBMD (there is only a Mary Ann MAY in 1856 in Kingsclere) IF she was baptised at St Mary's Portsea then she should be on the IGI but without a date sorry a no go there as there were too many to just plough through. Hope the above helps a bit anyway, take care, Linda and Tony

    1. New folk on the list -- some tips...
    2. We also have research tips on our website at _www.knightroots.co.uk_ (http://www.knightroots.co.uk) Also click on "resources" for the parish register fiche we have at home and free look ups from these BUT we do need an exact date including the year , a 1/4 in a district is not the same and these are not included in our free look up service. Don't be put off by the last comment as we do have a good few o check out. Also click on "links" here are a further list of volunteers who do free look ups from other parish register fiche. Good luck & happy hunting. Take care,Linda and Tony

    2. Hello Dave (& Betty) great to hear from you. The LDS records are only as good as the input and some of the census data is way out but they still offer a pretty good service (in our opinion). We do of course have many of the parish register fiche for St Mary's Portsea and others so if we can help give us a shout.See our website at _www.knightroots.co.uk_ (http://www.knightroots.co.uk) and by clicking on resources. Linda and Tony You suggested sharing personal plans for genealogy searches. One thing that would be of interest is your knowledge of alternative record searches after trying everything else. For example: Can the parish records at St. Mary's be searched since it seems that the LDS records are incomplete? Other suggestions? Dave Plaskett
