Back Later,Linda and Tony Hello listers, I am wondering if someone would be kind enough to please do a lookup for me? My ancestor was Mary Ann GRANSDEN baptised May 11, 1815 at St. John's, Portsea. She migrated to Australia as a single woman in 1832. The info. I have from the LDS site shows her parents as Robert Wood GRANSDEN and Mary Ann STONE, who were married on October 17, 1812 at Alverstoke. I am really keen to find out anything more about Mary Ann Gransden and her family, such as what the father did for a living, where they lived, age at marriage etc, anything really that someone may have access to from the parish records. 3. Hi Martin Thank you for the information re the KEMP family. The person I am seeking is Melissa Marion Barbara Kemp, age 20 years who married Albert Edwards age 22 years in 1907. Her father was Arthur Charles Kemp with occupation given as Clerk. The Kemp family were living at 34 Castle Row, Southsea at the time of the marriage . It has been "suggested" that Melissa could have been an Australian, because sometime after WWI they migrated to Victoria, but did return to England and moved to Norfolk. But as I said this is as "suggested" If there is anything you or Steve Baker can add it would be appreciated. Much searches of the Birth films via LDS have not proved successfully at this stage Thank you - Pamela NSW At 03:21 PM 10/08/2005, you wrote: >Hi Pamela: > >I may have posted about KEMP recently, but none of your other names >fit my interests, and my KEMP line is earlier than the dates you mention. > >There were several KEMP families in Portsea in the early 19th >century. 3. Hi In the case of my grgrandmother the birth was registered as if her parents were marrried, they didn't actually marry until she was six years old! I thought, maybe wrongly that the illegimate children were registered. Anyway many thanks Take care Val Knightroots@aol.com wrote: Hello Valerie There are no separate illegitimate records - in 1849, a birth would be registered in the normal GRO returns and the baptism within the normal parish registers - sometimes the incumbent may put a special note on the baptism entry such a illegitimate or base born or of course, only a mothers name being shown is an obvious clue.
