Hello, I am interested in the above names. Jeffrey PARFITT (PAFFETT) wed Ann PENNANT in Alverstoke in 1813. Their son, Edward, born 1824, wed Mary BISHOP (daughter of William) in Alverstoke in 1845. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with similar interests. Regards, Brian
I'm interested in the Sivyers. My branch came from Sussex, although my grandfather lived on Hayling for many years. There was one who was a scripture reader in the prison in Portsmouth. He died in 1873 and had a son Henry. I can't trace the Henry who married Clara in my records, but will explore it. Thanks for the lead. Hello List Thanks to all the kind folk who've added to my knowledge of Portsmouth and environs. It helps to put flesh on the bones. Seamus, tell me more about your pugilistic uncle; name, age, etc. Did he fight under a ring name, like Blockbuster Brown, Mike the Mauler or some such? Did he remain in South Africa? You could pose your question on the South Africa List SOUTH-AFRICA-request@rootsweb.com Some very knowledgeable and helpful people on the list. Best wishes. Frank. South Africa.
Hi Bob, The name your after is SIVYER. The birth was registered DEC1/4 1912. I have seen the name mentioned on the list before, but can't remember who by! Hope this helps, Becci

There is a lot of information on this cert but I cannot make out the surname, it looks like George Albert Henry SUIYER b 24 Aug 1912 at 12 Warwick Street Southsea. This application was made on 12 Nov 1930 when I presume George Albert was living at 44 West street Southsea. George Albert's parents were Henry Arthur SUIYER and Esther Clara Goldsmith. Hi James. Many thanks for your suggestion. I was member in a couple of S.A. sites in the early part of this century. I got quite a bit of help from the librarian of the Kimberley Library & Museum. I found that Uncle Jim was in the Kimberley town guard & also the Diamond fields Light Horse. I also discovered a cousin living in Jo'burg, two years younger than me. Was a Lt. Col. In S.A. army. His grandfather (Harry) was also my great uncle. Sadly, he hasn't been very forthcoming. Despite my sending him a copy of my family-tree on the Turners. Regards.
