    3. Karl, You are right, Cann is not common in Gloucestershire. In the 1851 census, the only one I have access to here, there are only two by that name in the entire county. Cann Moses 49 tailor in Lydney born in Exeter, Devon Cann William 63 Clifton Union Workhouse born in Westerton, Devon It would appear that your Alfred and my Joseph moved to The Forest from some other county. Do you have access to a later census which might give their place of birth?
