"The Lower Forge as it was first known, eventually became Lydney Tinworks, it originally consisted of two mills and a finishing department, the mills were driven by an old beam type steam engine. The Lydney Works grew, three new mills and a foundry were added to replace the one at Middle Forge, later followed new offices and four more mills a tinhouse and cold roll. The site continued to grow, two more mills were built and a new engine installed to replace the old beam engine, the mills know totalled eleven".
