Hi all Firstly David - do you have a size limitation on your site? That would govern what we could include. Some suggestions ONLY for volunteer tasks but PLEASE if you don't agree just say so. In the short term: A FOD Specific Surnames List, together with any relevant web addresses This needs to broken down into smaller sections to make the collection task less onerous, maybe - A-H; I-P; Q-Z (or something like that dependent upon the number of volunteers), to be updated and sent to David weekly. Format would need to be uniform amongst volunteers to make David's job easier. Look up offers by Surname; Publications (I have a treasured copy of "Coleford - The History of a West Gloucestershire Forest Town by Cyril Hart" which is indexed); 1851-1891 Census records etc... Similar to above perhaps Look Up Offers by Surname maybe - A-H; I-P; Q-Z Look Up Offers by Publications/Census Records Held etc (a thought here - I have a book written about a NZ family whose origins were from the Forest. Covers such things as the separate emigration of the sons along with journal entries of their voyages to NZ, hardships, later NZ families. Should this type of material be included? Someone would also need to take on the task of periodically checking the contact email addresses for out of date addresses to keep the site's integrity. Undertaken perhaps every 3-4 months. This is important!! To get things started I would like to volunteer for the task of helping to collate the FOD Specific Surnames List with any relevant web addresses from A to H.
