Hi Martin I think the package you choose is very much a matter of what suits *you*. Every package has its adherents and most will recommend the one they use. From reading the reviews, they all seem much the same to me. Personally, I would not consider buying a package at all since I use a perfectly satisfactory free one, Personal Ancestor File from the LDS at http://www.familysearch.org/ (go to Order/Download and then Software Downloads - Free).
