Researching family of THOMAS PHILLIPS, b. ca. 1795 - married ELIZABETH BETHEL 1818 NEWLAND - had children ( all baptised in LYDNEY ) JAMES ( 1819 ) THOMAS (my ggrandfather - 1821) who both immigrated to Pennsylvania U.S.A. ca 1849, WILLIAM ( 1824) who married ANN GRIFFITH AND SAMUEL( 1826) Still missing information on WILLIAM AND SAMUEL, after 1851. THOMAS b. 1795, died 1828 and left a will. Owned house at St. Briavels, and left it to James. Had a house in Lydney and left to his wife for her lifetime. ELIZABETH BETHEL PHILLIPS remarried 1829 to MATTHEW JAMES, who was a witness to her marriage to THOMAS PHILLIPS. According to 1851 Census Elizabeth Bethel l Phillips JAMES and MATTHEW JAMES had children: JOHN, MARK, AND ELIZABETH. MATTHEW JAMES was dead by 1851.
