Sorry to return to this topic which has probably only just reached your screens but I may now be part way to answering my own question - which was - why am I unable to find Edwin Iles 1st marriage and the birth of at least 4 children in GLS. I now have a copy of the certificate for his second marriage to Emma Butt dated 22.10.1868. They both lived at Yorkley and were married at St. Pauls Church - presumably Parkend - and yet the Registration District is shown to be Monmouth. I also now have my grandmother's birth cert dated September 5th., 1882. She was born at Bream "In the sub district of Coleford" and again the Registration District is Monmouth. It looks as though I must start searching Monmouth but Is anyone able to tell me what rules governed the registration districts. Were all the Forest births registered in Mon, if so does anyone know when the practise started and finished? Assuming of course that it isn't still going on. Finally is anyone able to do a Monmouth lookup please. Edwin was born at Brimpsfield in 1825, (as Eyles). By 1853 he was married with 4 children and I have no information on the marriage or the children. He could have had a son, Henry, by his first wife in as late as 1866 so there could be others in between. This man has been bugging me for a long time - can anyone de-bug me please? I would be so very grateful. John
Hello listers, Looking for any information regarding the parents of George Hulin from St. Briavels area? He married a Mary Baker {or Barker} from Alvington in 1699. Would love to get a lead with this particular brick wall. Many tks Dave
