Can anyone out there help me with the following? I am seeking to find a connection between these two families: 1. WILLIAM SQUIRES, born abt. 1788 who married Hester ?, born abt. 1784. They had a son called MATHEW SQUIRES, who was married to MARGARET MITCHELL, both born abt. 1816. They in turn had at least one son who was called ELAM, born abt. 1846. Mathew and family emigrated to Australia in 1849 at which time his parents were living at Westerleigh, Gloucestershire. 2. WILLIAM SQUIRES who married EMMA HOPTON (no dates known unfortunately) who had a son called ELAM SQUIRES who was born on June 13 1856, at which time the family was living at Frampton Cotterill, Gloucestershire. This second ELAM SQUIRES was my maternal g-grandfather and I wish to establish if the two Elams are just a coincidence or is it another example of my family tradition of naming offspring after their grandparents? Incidentally, there is another possible member of one or other of these families called CALEB SQUIRES. David.
