dear Listers Just subscribed. For 3 years I have been researching the Lane family from somerset on a chance comment by a member of the family. today I have received 2 letters from 'long lost' family who inform me that the Lane family came from Chepstow area!!!!! One remembers a photograph of three large men and on the back it said ' Lanes Farm' Lane End, tintern. the other person remembers being told that his mother was taken to chepstow on the train then having a long walk to her grandparents farm. I also have a recollection of father-in law saying that he visited Devauden, but unfortunateley we thought he was rambling as he had recently had a stroke - that'll teach me! I believe the person I am looking for is Sydney Hubert or sidney Herbert ( or variations) Lane who married in 1905. I know his wife was born in1885 so if he was older he may be on the 1881 census, if someone wouldn't mind helping me out. Any information would be gratefully received, especially if someone could verify the address and residents of Lane farm.
