Hello Pat: May not be any connection but my maternal grandfather was Enoch Charles Lane, born Little Fordhouse Newent in 1887. He and my grandmother farmed in Mitcheldean but there was some talk about a connection with Chepstow and my Mother used to visit there. His parents Timothy Lane and Emily Minchin lived at Little Fordhouse, Newent, but I have not been able to trace where Timothy was born. I'll keep your name on file and if anything turns up let you know. Pearl Ager, Western Australia. Researching: Boughton, Birt, Lane, Minchin, Dickinson in Forest of Dean. Bennett, Williams and Davies in Old Monmouthshire. Ager in Essex. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat & Bernie Bulley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2002 2:34 AM Subject: [FoD] Lane family of Chepstow, Tintern, Devauden > dear Listers > Just subscribed. > For 3 years I have been researching the Lane family from somerset on a > chance comment by a member of the family. today I have received 2 letters > from 'long lost' family who inform me that the Lane family came from > Chepstow area!!!!! > > One remembers a photograph of three large men and on the back it said ' > Lanes Farm' Lane End, tintern. > > the other person remembers being told that his mother was taken to chepstow > on the train then having a long walk to her grandparents farm. > > I also have a recollection of father-in law saying that he visited Devauden, > but unfortunateley we thought he was rambling as he had recently had a > stroke - that'll teach me! > > I believe the person I am looking for is Sydney Hubert or sidney Herbert ( > or variations) Lane who married in 1905.
