good morning - i am researching my father's surname, THAMES. we think that the progenitor of the THAMES family in the US may have been a William THAMES, who came to America in about 1666, and lived in Maryland. he is said to have shipped some "goods" from England on several occasions on a ship called the "Bristol Factor." it is thought that he might have been a Quaker, but this has not yet been proved. William is thought to have had at least 3 children, sons John, Joseph and Thomas. the IGI records and a few other sources indicates that there were THAMESes in/around Cheshire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Surrey and Kent. does anyone have any information on the THAMES family in England? i sure would appreciate any help on this search.
