Hi I'm looking for connections to my Jordan/Rodway family. JORDAN William Henry born about 1849 in Cinderford married to RODWAY Mary Ann born about 1855 in Mitcheldean. As far as I can tell their families were miners from over the river Rangeworthy / wickwar area who mined in the forest of dean area for a while before moving north to the Normington, Yorkshire coal fields. How did these families know where the work was ? why would they leave mines that were not closed, family history has it that they travelled by getting lifts on cannel barges, would this be correct ? here's hoping Carole [email protected]
