Thank you so much for your clarification of the census indx and the info. This is indeed the Sarah Davis I am trying to show was my gg-grandmother - but I would like to be more sure by finding her father on the marriage cert. Maybe Shadrach had completed his year as a miner and put in his application well before March 1851 but this date was when the status was granted. So it could be my Shadrach in Glamorgan - place of birth being wrong as someone else gave the info / enumerator just lazy with the dittos. What info you have about the entry would be greatly appreciated. I am surprised that West Dean is not covered on 1861 Glos CD - is it covered somewhere else or just omitted? My guess at a nonconformist connection was right! Thanks for this. I knew about John, William and Sarah H but not about Evan K. I shall certainly write to Cinderford - I did not know that the marriages were indexed so the cost of a search will be much less. In the past I have been asked for a parish before a search could be undertaken. Again, thank you so much for the leads and information - my search can take off in a possitive direction again. Janet Howell Staffordshire PS I have Shadrach and family in Staffs from 1881 and in Staffs I was stuck for a long time until I discovered Bream was in Gloucestershire not Staffordshire !!
