Does anyone have access to a complete index for 1851? I have searched the online records and index and a kind person called Jules has done a lookup on their transcription index (via a lookup service and it seems more accurate) but there is no sign at all of Shadrach Jenkins. In March 1851 Shadrach became a freeminer, aged 22 and living Breams Eaves. I am not sure what social/financial implication this had but I am sure it would not mean he fled Gloucestershire between March 31st and the census that year. If sks has access to the census images or a full index could they check to see if they can spot Shadrach - anywhere? Apparently some areas of FoD are not transcribed or in the indexes above. If I can locate where Shadrach is in 1851 and/or 1861 then maybe I can find his marriage to Sarah Davis (not yet on IGI or FreeBMD) - crucial to taking my maternal line back through Sarah. I am also trying to fill in back ground history re mining / freeminers and also the rise of nonconformist religion (particularly Clements End chapel) - does anyone have good suggestions for books or online resources? Any helpful reading or info appreciated - it will be a while until I can get to visit Gloucester Many thanks in advance Janet Howell Staffordshire
