Hi, I'm new to the list, I'm from Lancashire but I can trace my roots through my maternal grandmother DAMARIS GIFFORD who was horn 1880 Newland daughter of PHOEBE MORSE and MARK GIFFORD. Mark and Jane were married 1815 in Tidenham. JANE LEWIS of Coleford born around 1793 was daughter of RICHARD and JANE LEWIS. PHOEBE MORSE was born around 1838 in Bream daughter of JOHN MORSE and DAMARIS BAILEY. JANE LEWIS was a beer house keeper according to the 1851 census. JOHN MORSE born 1791 West Dean son of George Morse christened 1758 Awre with Blakeney who was married to Elizabeth Davies 1783 Newland. ELIZABETH DAVIES born around 1747, My grandmother DAMARIS GIFFORD born in 1880 left the Forest in 1904 to marry my grandfather in Lancashire but she was thought to have worked as a cook at the Speech House before her marriage and I would be interested to know of anyone who had an ancestor with any connection with the Speech house around that time.
