Hi I've just joined the list and am posting my interests. Although my paternal grandfather Herbert JAMES (1889-1964) was born in Castleford, his father Richard James (c.1851-1935) was born in Bream Eaves. Richard was a miner by trade and was recorded as a hewer at his death. In 1881, Richard was lodging with Caleb KEAR (c.1845) also from the Forest of Dean, having been born in Whitecroft. Caleb was married to Mary Ann UNKNOWN maiden name but whom I suspect to be Richard's sister. Caleb KEAR's mother was Edith KEAR (b 1823) and it is believed that she was unmarried. Her parents were Enoch Kear (b 1791) and Mary UNKNOWN. Edith had several brothers and sisters: Rhoda Annis Fanny Emma Enoch Elijah Hannah Ofilah Mary Elias all born between 1823 and 1848 I would be interested in hearing from anybody who has any information that would further my research, particularly with the JAMES family.
